As we enter the 21st century, swelling demand and changing climate patterns are draining rivers and aquifers as pollution threatens the quality of what remains. The choices we make for where and how we live have enormous impacts on our well-being, economy, and natural environment.Issues in ecology are complex and do not always have clear solutions. In addition, many of the solutions that have been proposed and popularly accepted have been based on emotion, bad science or no science at all.
