Abstract

The time has changed; we are accepting technologies because during this time period of information explosion, technologies are the best way to communicate information. To communicate information through technology; creates a new revolution to libraries, When libraries are in the condition of scrapped. They are fighting for their existence to make its own place in the society because of uncontrolled over information explosion. At that time technologies only hope to enlighten the way through light to manage information. Thus, Information Communication Technology plays prerequisite role in serving the users in this vast era of information. Open source software is not something to be afraid of: Its software that you can modify, fix, add to, and distribute to others. Benefits are numerous, including having the ability to create good software that works for you and your library, all while paying a fraction of the cost that you might spend on proprietary software . The website introduces librarians to using open source software and provides tips for implementing and evaluating your transition, ideas for funding and suggestions for open source software to use in your library. In this paper trying to clear the concept of information technology and use of open source software in libraries.
