BANCASSURANCE: A NON-BANKING BUSINESS OF CORPORATION BANK AND ITS IMPACT ON BANK’S PROFITABILITY

Abstract

This research paper is about bancassurance: A non-banking business of Corporation bank. After banking reforms and privatization and liberalization of the banking sector, Corporation bank has diversify its banking business and entered into non-banking businesses like mutual fund selling, insurance selling, E-stamping and other Govt. services. Corporation bank is engaged in insurance selling since 2001, this is known as bancassurance business. In this paper we analyze contribution of income from bancassurance business of the corporation bank and its impact on bank’s profitability. Besides that we also measure feasibility of bancassurance in Indian perspective.
