Abstract

The partitioning of metals between dissolved and particulate phases critically influences metal transport, reactivity and bioavailability. It is widely recognized that metal bioavailability and toxicity are not determined merely by the total dissolved metal among various inorganic and organic metal species governs bioavailability, which is related to the free metal concentration or activity rather than to the total, dissolved metal concentration. Thus the deterious effects of metal toxicity can be mitigated by complexation of the metal with organic and inorganic legends. This study concerns the effects of metal speciation on the biogeochemical cycling of metals become increasing by important as evidence for metal complexation in natural water accumulate.
