Abstract

India is emerging as prominent power in the globalized world. Globalization has accelerated the economic growth of the country but it has also widened the rich-poor gap. The whole country is symbolically divided into two "the India of light and India of darkness. By using the metaphor of light and darkness, Adiga democrat's poor and rich people of the country. The different living standard and lifestyle of these upper class and lower class people presented is the novel accentuates the disparity and distinction. The people of darkness with their dark-bodies, filthy faces and the animal life way living under the huge bridges and over passes are easily distinguishable from rich setting in air conditioned cars.
