OBSTACLES AND REALITY IN IMPLEMENTATION OF IRDP SCHEME

Abstract

Integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP) is poverty alleviation programme in which families living below the poverty line in rural areas are provided financial assistance in the form of loan and subsidy so that they can cross the poverty line by Increasing their productivity in agricultural and allied sectors. The viability of such activities depends to a larger extent upon the potentialities of that particular area. In this chapter an attempt has been made to described the performance of IRDP in district Allahabad. It discusses in detail the composition of BPL families, number of families assisted under IRDP,
