STRESS OF PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS IN RELATION TO THEIR MENTAL HEALTH

Abstract

The present study was undertaken to investigate the relationship between stress and the mental health of prospective teachers. The sample comprised of 100 prospective teachers selected randomly from Government College of Education Sector-20, Chandigarh. The Mental Health Checklist constructed by Kumar (1992) was used and Stress Scale by Lakshmi (2005) was used to assess mental health and stress of prospective teachers respectively. The findings of the study revealed that there was variation in the level of mental health and stress among prospective teachers. Also there was a significant positive correlation between stress and mental health of prospective teachers.
