Abstract

A nonlinear method to obtain source parameters is explained. The source parameters estimated are 0, fc, and Q. The method is called the Occam’s method. The source parameters are needed to be estimated to estimate various properties of earthquake and may be used in several studies for ex. attenuation estimation of earthquake and later on for estimating seismic hazard scenario of a given region. The procedure involves computing of Jacobian of a matrix and is an iterative non-linear process. The code is written in MATLAB environment. The data used for application is from PESMOS.
