The last decade of twentieth century was celebrated as International Decade of Nat- ural Disaster Reduction (IDNDR). Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC) and Na- tional Centre for Disaster Management (NCDM) together celebrated October 29, 2002 as National Day for Disaster Reduction. In this respect, Yokohoma Strategy and plan of ac- tion for safer world was devised at World Conference on natural disaster reduction at Yo- kohoma in Japan on May 23-27, 1994.
