Abstract

Credit is one but integral part of rural development. This paper attempts to examine credit rationing in the rural sector in India. The analysis reveals the presence of and an increase in the level of rationing in the Indian rural credit market in the post-liberalization period. The rationing of credit is higher in states with lower levels of economic and human development.
