A STUDY ON CAPITAL ADEQUACY ANALYSIS OF SELECTED PUBLIC SECTOR BANKS IN INDIA

Abstract

The main objectives of this study are to analyze the capital position of State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank and Central Bank of India. To fulfill the aim of the study 5 years secondary data from 2016-17 to 2020-21 has been collected from annual reports of the bank. To analyze collected data various capital adequacy ratios i.e. capital adequacy ratio and debt equity ratio tools i.e. mean, standard deviation, covariance and correlation has been used. The study concluded that overall capital performance of banks are not at desired level and capital adequacy ratios don’t have any significant difference during the study period. Banks can improve its capital position by adopting suggestions given in the study.
