Abstract

The aim of the study is to identify the members’ income and savings before and after joining the self-help group and to establish the comparison between these variables. The research findings revealed that the Members have increased the income and saving after the joining of self-help group. Financing SHGs is a unique contribution to development intervention methods for social and economic change that rely on people's own resources and gradually complement their resources through the banking system. SHGs are needed to overcome exploitation, to build confidence for the economic self-sufficiency of the rural poor, especially among women who are invisible in the social structure.
