Abstract

The concept of goal orientation was developed to describe variability in dispositional or situational goal preferences that an individual implicitly sets for him/herself in achievement situations. Two goals perspectives are related to the conception of ability adopted by an individual and this reflect how the child defines success and judged his or her competence i.e., task orientation & ego orientation. In the present study we strived to find out and compare the orientation and ego orientation among the sports player of open skill & closed skill sports. A total of 120 sportspersons and the average age 18-28years, who had participated at interuniversity level and studied in various courses in University of Delhi, were selected as subjects.
