Abstract
Punjab was one of the last regions to come under British rule. So the growth of political consciousness got a late start in the Punjab. The social geography of the Punjab, with three communities, i.e., the Hindu, the Muslim, and the Sikh, diverted the attention of the newly rising educated urban middle class.
