Abstract
Migration is a universal phenomenon and people were moving from one place to another place for reasons of their own. The major reasons for such migrations can vary from economic reasons, parental migrations, familial reasons etc. Whenever migration happened, it is accompanied by a major change in the cultural setup of both the migrants as well as for the members of the host community also. Acculturation strategy has been pointed out as one of the main element in the field of acculturation study. The classical definition of acculturation includes the main idea of the multicultural model as it says that when people from two different cultures meet each other, it results in the change of the original culture patterns of either or both groups (Redfield, Linton, & Herskovits, 1936). According to this classical definition, acculturation and culture change can’t be integrated together, although both are interrelated but assimilation is one of its aspects, which is at times a phase of acculturation ( Berry, 1998).
