Abstract Pichavaram (MadBoon) Tamil Nadu - South India has a well-developed MangroveForest.Mangroves are of great ecological and economic significance and are among the most productive ecosystems.Because their high rate of production of organic matter,the mangrove are able to sustain a diverse community of organisms ranging from bacteria to fishes,birds and mammals.The area is about 1100hectare and is separated from thesea by a sand bar. The Pichavaram mangrove biotype, consisting of rare species like Avicenna and Rhizophora presents a special attraction with its peculiar topography and environmental condition.It supports the existence of many rare varieties of economically important shell and finfish’s.Themangroves ecosystem is considered to be one of the most productive ecosystem.It has some of the richest biodiversity hotspots for both flora and fauna.The aim of this study is to conduct an ecosystems services valuation study for mangroves eco-systems, the results of which can be used to inform governance and management of mangroves an expert-based participatory approach toidentify,categorize and rank the various ecosystem services provided by mangrove ecosystems at a global scale.
